Upgrading moves you to a larger plan. Your remaining traffic comes with you, and your per-GB rate drops. You can upgrade at any point in your cycle. You do not need to wait for a renewal date.

Upgrading starts a new billing cycle

An upgrade is not a mid-cycle adjustment. An upgrade starts a fresh billing cycle from the day you upgrade, and that cycle replaces the old one. So your renewal date moves. If you were billed on the 3rd and you upgrade on the 20th, your new cycle runs from the 20th and the 20th becomes your renewal date from then on. You pay the new plan’s price for the new cycle. There is no proration and no partial credit for the days left on the old plan. Instead, the traffic you had already paid for comes with you.

Your traffic transfers

Traffic left on your current plan is added on top of the new plan’s traffic. If you have 6 GB left on a 20 GB plan and upgrade to 40 GB, you start the new cycle with 46 GB. This transfer applies to an upgrade specifically. It is not the same as letting a subscription lapse, or as switching to Pay-as-you-go. See how monthly subscriptions work for all three cases.

Why upgrading beats topping up

Larger plans cost less per GB. An upgrade gives you more traffic and a better rate at the same time, where a top-up only gives you traffic at your current rate. If you top up most months, you are paying small-plan prices for large-plan usage. Compare the tiers on the Pricing page.

Downgrading

To move to a smaller plan, pick the smaller plan the same way from Pricing. Downgrading carries no penalty. Your remaining traffic transfers in full, exactly as it does on an upgrade. Nothing is forfeited and nothing freezes. One thing changes when you downgrade: your per-GB rate follows the smaller plan, so any future Add traffic top-up costs more per GB than it would have done.
