If only one website isn’t loading, there are a few common reasons why this might happen. Let’s look at them.

1. The website only works in specific locations

An example site returning a not-available message on a United States IP, then loading normally on a supported country
In the example above, the website buildpad.com isn’t available in the United States. After changing to a supported country, the website works just fine.
  • Most crypto websites don’t work in the United States.
To change country, see Available locations.

2. Government blocking

Some governments block specific websites - for example, Russia has blocked sites such as Instagram. To get around those restrictions we created a Russian server configuration. To use it, add -ru to the gateway in your proxy string:
Only the gateway changes. The username, port and password stay exactly as they were.

3. Banks, government, and .edu websites

As a general rule, EDU, GOV and payment services are restricted for legal reasons. Some EDU domains may work, just as some payment services work, but we cannot control which ones are open.

Before you conclude it is the site

If more than one site is failing, or you are not sure the proxy is connecting at all, confirm the proxy itself first with Verify your proxy’s status with the curl command.
