# Why do my static (ISP) proxies show different locations on different IP checkers?

> Third-party IP checkers use their own databases and often disagree. NodeMaven benchmarks against MaxMind.

This is expected. Every IP checker keeps its own geolocation database, updated on its own schedule, so two checkers can report different cities or even different countries for the same ISP proxy.

NodeMaven benchmarks ISP proxy locations against **MaxMind**, so that is the reference to compare with:

* [MaxMind GeoIP demo](https://www.maxmind.com/en/geoip-demo)
* [IP2Location](https://www.ip2location.com/)

The quickest check is the **Check proxy** button next to each IP on the ISP order details page. It returns the resolved location and the fraud-risk verdict from the same benchmark support uses.

ISP targeting is country-level only, so the country is what we guarantee. A checker resolving the IP to a particular city is reporting its own data, not a city you selected. See [ISP locations](/isp/locations) and [Quality and replacement](/isp/quality-and-replacement).
