# What protocols do I have access to?

> NodeMaven proxies support HTTP and SOCKS5. HTTPS is not supported as a proxy protocol.

NodeMaven proxies support two protocols: HTTP and SOCKS5. HTTPS is not supported as a proxy protocol.

That does not stop you reaching secure sites. You can request `https://` URLs through an HTTP proxy, which is what browsers and most tools do by default. The protocol setting describes how your tool talks to the proxy, not what it can fetch.

The default ports are `8080` for HTTP and `1080` for SOCKS5. Alternative SOCKS5 ports such as `1081` are also available.

For the full port list and how to set the protocol in your proxy string, see [Protocols and ports](/residential-mobile/protocols-and-ports).
