# How can I deactivate my previously generated proxies?

> Change your proxy password to cut off access for every proxy string you generated earlier.

Change your proxy password. Every proxy string you generated earlier stops working immediately, and any app or person still using one loses access at once.

This works for Residential and Mobile proxies. See [Change your proxy password](/residential-mobile/change-proxy-password) for the steps.

Changing the password affects all of your Residential and Mobile strings at the same time, so generate fresh strings for the tools you still want connected.

ISP proxies work differently. The credentials issued with an ISP order stay with that order and cannot be changed. See [ISP authentication](/isp/authentication).
