# How to change my proxy's IP

> Residential and Mobile proxies take a new IP from a new session ID. ISP orders use the Swap IPs button.

How you change the IP depends on which product you are using.

## Residential and Mobile

Start a new session and you get a new IP. There are two ways to do that:

* **Generate a new proxy in the dashboard.** Each string you generate carries its own session ID, so each one connects through a different IP.
* **Change the session ID in the string you already have.** Alter any character in the `-sid-` value and the gateway treats it as a new session, which assigns a new IP.

A Sticky session also takes a new IP on its own once the session expires, up to 24 hours. You can set a shorter lifetime. See [Sticky sessions](/residential-mobile/sticky-sessions).

## ISP proxies

An ISP IP does not change on its own. Use the **Swap IPs** button on the order to replace it. See [Change your ISP IP](/isp/change-ip).
